Founded in 1977, Bach Musica is a choir and orchestra specialising in music of the Baroque and Classical periods.

Now widely recognized as one of New Zealand's premier Baroque ensembles, we present a six concert series in 2010 in our home venue, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, Auckland.

2010 Concert Series

In our 2010 subscription series we present a range of superb compositions that promise an exciting mix of "Music for the soul".

These include traditional favourites such as Mozart's Piano Concerto in C minor, Duruflé's Requiem, Boccherini's famous Cello Concerto and - following our long tradition of stylish Baroque performance - Bach's St John Passion and his jubilant Christmas Oratorio.

Last year's successful debut of an Andre Rieu-type Valentine's concert encouraged us to present another concert of famous love songs and familiar ballet tunes. Wonderful music for the heart!

Also, we look forward to giving the world-premiere of Rachmnaninov's beloved Vespers in an arrangement for choir and orchestra.

For the first time we combine Music and Dance, performed by Mary-Jane O'Reilly to music by Argentinian composer Piazzolla!

As we enjoy working with young talented musicians we again team up with the award-winning choir of Kristin School in the first NZ performance of Rutter's Mass of the Children with full orchestra.

Among our internationally aclaimed vocal soloists are Gina Sanders, Anna Cors, Jayne Tankersley, Anne Kania, Kate Spence, John Murray, Derek Hill and Barry Mora.

Bach Musica's concertmaster is Yid-Ee Goh.
