Founded in 1977, Bach Musica is a choir and orchestra specialising in music of the Baroque and Classical periods.

Now widely recognized as one of New Zealand's premier Baroque ensembles, we present a seven concert series in 2009 in our home venue, Holy Trinity Cathedral, Parnell, Auckland.

2009 Concert Series

Our 2009 subscription series presents a range of superb compositions including recognised masterpieces, outstanding but lesser-known works and a world premiere by a talented NZ composer.

Traditional favourites such as Mendelssohn's Elijah and his beloved Violin Concerto as well as music by Mozart, Brahms, Poulenc and Monteverdi promise an exciting mix of "Music for the soul". The great success of our 2008 performance of Bach's mighty St. Matthew Passion encouraged us to stage this famous piece again in 2009.

For the first time we will be presenting an Andre Rieu-type Valentine's concert with famous love songs and familiar ballet tunes. Wonderful music for the heart!

Also, we look forward to giving the world premiere performance of M.C.W. Bell's Magnificat.

Among our internationally acclaimed vocal soloists are Morag Atchison, Anna Cors, Grant Dickson, Nicola Edgecombe, David Griffiths, Anne Kania, Greg Massingham, Patrick Power, Gina Sanders, and Hans-Georg Wimmer.
